Few pieces of furniture see as much use as coffee tables. Whatever the design you choose, make sure that it is able to survive the strains put on it. Of course, they are used to keep coffee cups and drinks on. But people often forget to use coasters and things do get spilled. Coffee tables are also convenient places to keep food and snacks and again, stains do happen. And what about ashtrays and smoldering tobacco that may fall on the surface? Coffee tables are also used as work tables and scratches caused by laptops and other things being places on them are common. If your décor permits, glass, stone or laminate tops are the safest option.
