Accent Tables Enhance Home and Hearth
My favorite styles of accent tables are the console table (I LOVE Demilunes for Entryways), nesting tables and petite tables. These tables can easily stand alone, mimic your current décor or add the subtle contrast of sophistication. What really sets these tables apart from others is the old world and old money charm about them.
While most of us will never really know what it is like to be a Rockefeller, you can feel like one by adding an exquisite demilune console table with intricate inlay of many different cuts of the same wood finished to perfection. A thin grained wood like mahogany or cherry enhances the piece and suits the elegance you are conveying. You may have to spend a pretty penny to find such accent tables but it will be well worth it. These are pieces your grandchildren will use, much like the enduring beauty of a Rolls Royce. They aren’t simply pieces of furniture, they are legends. These items are worth collecting, but too many particularly of too many different styles is overkill. Choose one main style and no more than one console table per entryway or per 1000 square feet.
Nesting tables are another example of fantastic accent tables. Nesting tables add both practical elements of condensed space with expandable flat top. Who doesn’t need extra table top from time to time? Even better they are expandable table top with the same benefits as end tables, an excellent place to share your life with those visiting and to remind yourself of the things that matter most to you, all at eye level while you relax on the couch. The fact that you can pull out the extra table top space without disturbing your arrangement on the top table is just brilliant.
Conceptually accent tables are a way for you to mimic the style you have already selected for your home whether it is traditional, mission, contemporary, art deco, modern, ultra post modern, for example, or if you want to create just a touch of contrast for a hint of mystery. By using accent tables for the contrast, you present a home that is not disconnected, but one that intimates a deeper story and connection…. You instantly add intrigue and depth. This is effective for entertaining and this is particularly effective for selling your home – your home will immediately resonate with more visitors and therefore more buyers!
Each room needs some lower height embellishments: flowers, photos, crayon drawings (ooops, just my house for the crayon drawings), using accent tables to carry those embellishments gives your home a warmer feel and a classier appearance. Accent tables are an effective way to feature the special objects you love and even the art work you prize thus bringing out your personality. Side tables and petite accent tables can be fine platforms for small sculptures, pieces of ceramic art, crystal figurines and your tea cup collection (in low traffic areas of course!). Make the best impression; find accent tables that represent the spirit you want others to see in you and in your home.
