Fabulous and Functional Décor with Nesting End Tables
Whether you use nesting end tables for the decorative element of subtle stair-stepping or for the functional, portable nature of the tables themselves, you are sure to enjoy the beauty and simplicity of the concept. These tables can be set anywhere as the have a smaller footprint than most end tables and they vary in height so you can choose your set by heights you use most frequently.
In households where television and eating go together, a set of nesting end tables can provide a functional form of TV tray without the glaring contrast of most TV trays to your living room décor. Most nesting tables come in threes reminiscent of Goldilocks and the Three Bears: a table for Papa Bear, the largest, a table for mama bear, the middle, and a table for baby bear, the very smallest table. Best of all, when you are done dining or simply resting your beverage closer to you, you can put the tables away instantly clearing clutter. If your household is anything like mine with tornadoes (also called children, dogs and associated friends) frequently whipping through the living room . . . being able to instantly clear up the area by moving the nesting end tables back to their nesting location is a time and mental energy saver. For dining style tables you will want to pick a height that fits over your knees while seated on the couch or your favorite chair. Many people prefer the top table to be over 27” tall. That is an easy size to find with some nesting end tables reaching 36” high for the top table. Those tallest tables are ideal for raised lounge chairs.
If however you prefer sturdy, portable . . . (don’t tell my husband I said it!) foot support, many nesting end tables are also available in the range of 12” to 16” high. These tables tend to be built to withstand more activity and necessarily a little heavier. The only times it is acceptable in my house to put feet up on a table of any kind are 1. the table is designed specifically for that purpose and 2. Grandma needed her feet raised in a particular position just after her surgery. We were able to find a set of nesting end tables with a beautiful needlepoint cushion top to accommodate her that fit our living room décor and coordinated with our sofa set. It was very important for us to find a functional piece that also fit our household personality as she was going to have to have her feet propped up for several weeks. The nesting end tables provided just the right accent for our living room.
So if you are looking for a welcoming touch that suits your personality and décor, consider nesting end tables. Tables can be found in many styles and height variations. The standard shape is square to rectangular, but oval and round and also available.
